The fourth Astana Half Marathon will take place in Astana on 1 June. The largest run in the capital city by “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund will gather 8,000 participants at a renewed race route with a unique view on some urban sites. The event can be attended by all the citizens — both distance runners, fans and just spectators to watch the start area programs.

This year the organisers have renewed the Half Marathon race route: the participants will run past some signature sights of the capital city — from the Independence Square, over the bridges Arkhar, Syganak and Syganak — Mangilik Yel offering spectacular views over the Akorda and the Yessil river bank, then they will pass Baiterek, Abu Dhabi Plaza and EXPO.

The run traditionally offers 4 distances: 21.1 km (Half Marathon), 10 km, 10 km (Nordic Walking), and Ekiden the team relay race. The organisers are inviting various aged professional sportsmen and amateur-runners.

“Four years ago “Courage to be the First” Fund organised the first Astana Half Marathon in order to popularise the running culture in the capital city. All the globe capitals run, and our Astana with its minimal elevation differences, comfortable summer weather, well-made logistics with the other cities and towns is perfect for promoting the running events. Last year, 6,000 participants from 45 countries over the world joined us, this year we are inviting more sportsmen and striving to engage the population in running activities.” Notes the Executive Director of “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund, Saltanat Kazybayeva.

Every participant who will finish the distance within the time set will receive a finisher’s commemorative medal.

Participations costs KZT 16,000 for 21.1 and 10 km distances, KZT 14,000 for 10-km Nordic Walking, and KZT 160,000 for Ekiden relay race. Hurry up to register on the website almaty-marathon.kz.

It is worthwhile to say that the event has been included in the AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races), which ensures organisation of a high quality and compliance with the international standards. The Half Marathon race routes have been certified as per the World Athletics regulations.

The event organiser is “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund that has actively been developing the popular sport in Kazakhstan since 2012 and holds more than 10 sporting events a year.

Furthermore, Almaty Marathon registration is still open – it is the largest running competition in Central Asia that will take place on 28 September 2025. Registration for the Marathon is available on the website almaty-marathon.kz.
