Above the Sky: Tau Jarys Mountain Run and Festival to Take Place on 29 June

On 29 June, Almaty Region will host the annual Tau Jarys cross-country run and family festival. This is the fourth mountain run organised by “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund, which expects to welcome 1,500 runners.
The run traditionally takes place at the Alatau Ski and Biathlon Complex, which is located just an hour’s drive from Almaty. The resort offers picturesque landscapes and comfortable conditions, which are ideal for an active weekend with loved ones. The run programme includes the 2-, 6- and 12-km distance races, as well as the 5- and 10-km Nordic Walking competitions. There will be musical performances and gaming entertainment activities for guests.
The Tau Jarys is held in compliance with the World Athletics regulations, while the Nordic Walking is held according to the rules proposed by the International Federation of Sports Tourism (IFST).
“We use the best international practices when organising our runs, and we want everyone to enjoy the Almaty Marathon events that is to find their favourite running format and share vivid memories of the sporting festival with their family and friends. The thrilling scale and programme of the Tau Jarys attract more than a thousand runners. Such activities not only promote our mission to improve national health, but also help develop the local economy and tourism,” said Saltanat Kazybayeva, Executive Director of “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund, which is an organiser of Central Asia’s largest run — Almaty Marathon.
The event will feature the Kazakhstan Nordic Walking Championship (also known as pole walking) offering the distances of 5 km and 10 km. All adult male and female walkers who have mastered the walking technique and have the necessary equipment are invited to participate.
All Tau Jarys finishers will receive a medal, and the female and male winners in each distance will be awarded diplomas, cash vouchers and gifts from partners.
Please pay the entry fee to participate: KZT 8,000 for the 2-km children’s distance (10-14 years old), KZT 13,000 for the 6-km distance race and 5-km Nordic Walking, KZT 14,000 for the 10-km Nordic Walking, KZT 15,000 for the 12-km distance race. A return transfer is available in comfortable buses for an additional fee. Registration is underway at almaty-marathon.kz.
