The 26th of July is the Summer Relay day. This is not just a relay race, but a conscious step towards an active and vibrant summer. This year, the relay will take place in the comfortable evening time. There will be 500, 1000 and 2000 metre distances for children aged 4 to 14. The main distance for adults is 10 km, which is divided among five team members. You can assemble male, female, mixed or business teams. All distances will start and finish at the Almaty Arena Ice Palace.
All finishers will be awarded a commemorative medal. The top three winners in each category in the 10-km distance (relay race) will receive a commemorative statuette and valuable prizes from partners. Champions in the Business category will be additionally awarded a cup, cash certificates and valuable prizes. Registration is still open at almaty-marathon.kz.
“Last year, we had the pleasure of successfully holding the first Summer Relay in the format of a summer relay race. It’s not just a fun sporting event, but also part of the long journey of preparations for the main run of the year — Almaty Marathon. These intermediate races are a great way to get into running, build team spirit and prepare consistently for more serious distances. Besides the running events, we hold free open training sessions throughout the year so that runners can approach the running in a conscious and enjoyable way,” said Saltanat Kazybayeva, Executive Director of “Courage to be the First” Corporate Fund.
The participation fee is KZT 55,000 per team, and KZT 6,000 to 8,000 for children’s distances.
Please note that the Almaty Marathon, the main running event of Central Asia, will take place on 28 September. The number of places for the run with unique landscapes and routes is limited. Registration is still open on the almaty-marathon.kz website
